Product detailed description

Japanese curved garden saw 270 mm

Thick branches? Quick and easy.

Thanks to the saw’s curvature, the teeth cut deeper and more easily into the wood, so you can cut through thick branches faster. The saw blade is specially coated with an industrial non-stick coating (PTFE) and is resistant to moisture and resin. The induction-hardened teeth have a very long service life.

Why choose a Japanese pruning saw?

Japanese saws are known for their quality, efficiency, and precision. If you’re deciding which saw to buy, here are a few reasons why a Japanese saw might be the right choice:

History:

Japanese garden saws have a long tradition and are known for their quality and craftsmanship. They are often made using traditional methods that have evolved over centuries.

Materials and Blade Quality:

The blades are often made of high-carbon steel, which ensures durability and sharpness.

Special surface treatments, such as nickel plating or clear varnish, protect the blade from corrosion and make cutting easier.

Choosing the Right Tooth Pitch: Selectingthe correct number of teeth per inch (TPI) is key to efficient cutting. Coarser teeth (with a lower TPI) are suitable for softer and green wood, while finer teeth (with a higher TPI) are better for hard and dry wood.

Japanese garden pruning saws cut with a pulling motion and are a specific type of garden saw designed for precise and efficient pruning of tree and shrub branches. These saws have a long tradition and are known for their quality and craftsmanship.

Pruning saws often resemble a curved knife, which allows for better control and precision when cutting branches. They are the smallest among garden saws, making them ideal for working in confined spaces or for detailed pruning.

Pruning saws are available in various sizes, allowing users to choose the right saw for a specific task. Smaller saws are suitable for delicate work, while larger models can handle thicker branches. Many pruning saws feature a folding mechanism that allows for easy and safe storage. Folding saws are also more portable, making them ideal for field work or travel.

Slightly curved pruning saws often come with a protective sheath that shields the blade from damage while also preventing accidental injury to the user.

Cleaning and Maintenance: After each use, it is recommended to clean the saw of resin and wood chips. Applying a thin layer of oil will help protect the blade from corrosion.

Safety Precautions:

When working with the saw, it is advisable to wear protective gloves to prevent injuries.

Saws should be stored in a dry place and out of the reach of children. The folding mechanism or protective case ensures safety during storage.

Comes with a sheath that can be attached to a belt. The sheath is open at the bottom, allowing any moisture to drain easily. The ergonomic TPR handle is non-slip and fits comfortably in the hand.

*TPR (thermoplastic rubber) is a material that combines the properties of thermoplastics and elastomers. It is commonly used in industry for the manufacture of tool handles, footwear, seals, toys, and other products where a combination of flexibility and strength is required.

Use and Maintenance:

  • The sharp, trapezoidal teeth of this saw can effortlessly cut through wood, branches, and shrubs. The saw blade is replaceable, so your saw will stay sharp whenever you need it.
  • Make sure to cut by pulling the saw toward you. Applying too much force when pushing the blade or cutting in a way that causes the saw blade to bend sharply from side to side can cause the blade to chip, bend, or break.
  • Maintenance: After use, remove sawdust and wipe off moisture. When storing, apply a thin coat of oil to prevent rust.
  • Do not store with the blade exposed, and keep out of reach of children.

Recommended for: softer wood, damp wood, gardening work.
