Reach is not the same as ladder length. Maximum reach indicates the approximate height that a standing person can reach when the ladder is used correctly. Therefore, it is greater than the ladder’s working length.

Reach is not the height you can climb to.

Maximum reach is the approximate height a standing person can reach—it is calculated as the height of the top step plus approximately 198 cm, which is roughly the height of an adult standing at 175 cm with an outstretched arm.*

Therefore, the reach is always greater than both the standing height and the height of the structure itself. Your actual reachable height depends on your stature.

* This is the manufacturer’s calculation, not a value specified by the EN 131 standard—which does not address user height. Most other brands use the same method of calculation.

When an aluminum ladder isn't the right choice

Dark Horse side rails are made of non-conductive fiberglass. The ladder is therefore designed for electrical installations, servicing technical equipment, facility maintenance, and other work where the conductivity of an aluminum structure may be undesirable.

Non-conductive side rails do not replace safety procedures or protective equipment required for working on electrical equipment.

The fiberglass construction is heavier than that of a comparable aluminum ladder. The smaller Dark Horse M13 weighs 15.9 kg, while the larger M22 weighs 25.4 kg.

M13 for service, interiors, and easier handling

The Dark Horse M13 is more compact and, weighing 15.9 kg, is easier to carry between work sites. As an extension ladder, it offers a reach of up to 4.36 m and measures only 109 cm in height when folded.

M22 for high reach and larger structures

The Dark Horse M22 is an extension ladder with a reach of up to 6.73 m. It is suitable for taller halls, facades, roofs, and technical equipment located at greater heights.

The integrated Tip & Glide™ wheels help manage the ladder’s weight of 25.4 kg during transport. When folded, the ladder is 170 cm tall and only 25 cm deep.

It is particularly suitable for:

The Dark Horse’s side rails are made of non-conductive fiberglass, making it a better choice than an aluminum ladder for electrical installations, service, and technical maintenance. Non-conductive material does not replace safety procedures or protective equipment required for working on electrical equipment.

What are the 6 working configurations offered by the Dark Horse?

Yes, the ladder can be separated into two independent support trestles. To create a work scaffold, you’ll need compatible trestle brackets and a walkway platform. These accessories are not included in the package and must be ordered separately.
